Brief Bio : Priyanka Mohite

Priyanka Mohite hails from Satara in western Maharashtra and has been passionate about mountaineering ever since she was a child. When she was a teenager, the now 30-year-old started to climb the mountains in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra.

In 2012, she scaled Bandarpunch, which is a mountain massif of the Garhwal division of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand. She also climbed Mt Menthosa (6,443m), which is the second-highest peak in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.

Work History :

Priyanka completed her BSc (Biotech) degree in 2012 from YC College, Satara. She also pursued an advanced mountaineering training course in 2012.

Achievements :

In April 2021, Priyanka climbed Mt Annapurna (8,091m), which is the world’s 10th highest mountain peak, and became the first Indian woman to achieve this feat. She has also climbed the highest peak in the world, Mt Everest (8,849m) in 2013, Mt Lhotse (8,516m) in 2018, and Mt Makalu (8,485m) and Mt Kilimanjaro (5,895m) in 2016.

Priyanka, who is now based in Bangalore, is also the recipient of the Maharashtra Government’s Shiv Chhatrapati State award for adventure sports for 2017-2018.

Ashish Mane (Born 14 August 1990) is one of the prominent professional mountaineer from India. He has scaled Mt. Everest (2012) Mt. Lhotse (2013),Mt. Makalu (2014), Mt Manaslu (2017) and Kanchenjunga (2019). Ashish is the only climber from Maharashtra as of now, to ascend five of the fourteen Eight-thousander|peaks over 8,000 metres means about 26,000 ft above sea level. In the year 2016, he attempted to scale Daulagiri, but due to technical reasons he had to quit the expedition.

Ashish hails from Satara, Maharashtra. He is an alumnus of Raje Shivraya Pratishthan college in Kothrud, Pune

Brief Bio : Umesh Zirpe

Umesh Zirpe is the founder-director of Pune-based Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM). He is the leader of Giripremi’s eight expeditions to 8000m mountains namely Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Kangchenjunga.

He is the only leader from India to achieve this feat. In October 2019, He summitted Mt. Mera (6476 M) in solo attempt.

Achievements

He has led one of the largest Civilian Expedition of India on world’s highest Mountain- Mount Everest in 2012. In subsequent years, led another seven 8000er expeditions on seven of the top 14 peaks in the world including Mt. Kangchenjunga, the world’s third tallest peak.

His several articles on mountaineering activities have been published in leading publishing platforms across the country. A book on Everest expedition experiences- ‘Goshta Eka Dhyasachi- Everest’ is published in 2014.
